um
I liked the way it felt when the palm of your hand made circles on my stomach when it hurt. You worked so hard in biology, and it slowly began to crawl back into your memory. I asked you where my heart was, and you drew your hand slowly across my body and sighed.
I loved you a lot then.
“Right here,” you said in a low voice I barely recognized, “it’s right here.”
Everything was red. You told me once that this light reminded you of me, and the few hours every weekend we’d spend together on a winter night. I realize now, how different we felt.
Then you kissed me and I imagined this was how much it hurt to lose everything I’ve ever had.
what you see is burning black, what you breathe is empty air.
take this moment with the future of your dreams no longer there.
